Human Rights
Human rights issues have jumped into the limelight recently due to an Amnesty International Report which placed Ecuador among the "blacklisted" countries with records of unresolved human rights violations. It is widely known that the Ecuadorian police and military often use torture practices as means of extracting information from suspected criminals. However, both the Ecuadorian police and military deny these charges. The Ecuadorian justice system is slow in investigating and punishing human rights violations, reason why Amnesty International also included Ecuador in it's violator's list.
