Museums around the country that might be worth a visit are listed below: In Riobamba, on Calle Orozco, the Convento de la Concepcion houses the Museo de Arte Religioso with religious art, statues and religious robes. Also in Riobamba, the Museo de la Escuela Politecnica Superior de Chimborazo displays archaeological artifacts. The Museo del Banco Central has ethnographic and modern exhibitions. In Latacunga, in the Molinos de Montserrat, you will find a small Ethnographic Museum run by the Casa de la Cultura. In Ambato, at the Parque Cevallos, the Museo de Ciencias Naturales displays stuffed birds and animals found on the region. In Guaranda you will find a few small museums with pre-Hispanic and colonial artifacts. These museums include: the Museo del Colegio Pedro Carbo, the Museo de la Casa de la Cultura, and the Museo Municipal. Museums of the Casa de la Cultura Ecuatoriana are also found in Esmeraldas and Portoviejo. Loja has another Museo del Banco Central and a Museo Municipal is also found in Manta and Zaruma. |
